NFU Helm
DEH-NFU6203 is an electronic Non-Follow-Up (NFU) helm input unit that operates without requiring feedback from the steering system; therefore, it is referred to as an NFU Helm.
The system is a mechatronic solution equipped with an integrated electronic control unit, embedded software, and a CAN-Bus interface. Designed as an alternative to conventional helm stations, it provides a robust and reliable control solution for electro-hydraulic steering systems.
The NFU Helm converts the rotational movement of the helm wheel into secure digital data transmitted via CAN-Bus, while offering redundant control architecture and resistive (force-feedback) steering feel. It is engineered to withstand harsh operating environments and has successfully passed stringent marine-standard qualification tests.
Thanks to its compact, lightweight, and flexible design, the system enhances operator comfort by offering intelligent features such as programmable rudder limit stop positions and an adjustable force-feedback mechanism.
In addition, the steering feedback can be dynamically adapted to operating conditions—for example, the resistance level may vary according to the helm wheel rotation speed—ensuring precise, comfortable, and safe helm control.
