NFU Joystick Control Panel
Non Follow-Up (NFU) is a type of steering control system in which the directional control valves of the Hydraulic Power Unit (HPU) are controlled directly. For this reason, it is considered one of the simplest and safest steering control methods.
When the joystick is pushed in a certain direction, the rudder starts turning in that direction and continues to move as long as the joystick is held or until a limit switch is reached. When the joystick is released, the rudder remains fixed at its current position. To return the rudder to the midship position, the joystick must be pushed in the opposite direction.
